As laws legalizing same-sex marriage and the three major gender equality laws have gradually been enacted, society may appear to be becoming more diverse and inclusive. Why, then, has it become increasingly difficult to sustain gender- and LGBTQ+-focused student organizations on campus?<br />
Gender identity can be understood from many different personal and social perspectives. It shapes how we understand ourselves and how we engage with society. On campuses, there are many students who are willing to take on pressure and advocate for gender-related issues. Yet passion alone cannot overcome the loss of institutional knowledge or the unequal distribution of resources.<br />
As organizations gradually lose capacity, only a small number of people are often left struggling to keep campus advocacy efforts alive. Faced with limited personnel, insufficient experience, and a lack of resources, activists may easily become frustrated and powerless.<br />
For many years, gender equality advocates at different schools have been like isolated islands, each fighting alone on their own campus. Their commitment to gender equality is frequently obstructed by practical realities.<br />
Through the Campus Activist Project, we hope to connect activists from different schools, create opportunities for communication and dialogue, and encourage the sharing of experiences and resources—transforming isolated islands into an interconnected archipelago.<br />

During this gathering, participants will share advocacy experiences, discuss current conditions at their schools, and exchange perspectives on gender-related issues. Through small-group discussions, participants will identify challenges encountered in their activism and develop possible strategies and solutions.<br />
Representatives from civil society organizations will also be invited to provide feedback, share practical experience, and offer further suggestions for future action.<br />

<span style="font-size:110%;">The 32nd Taiwan International Women’s Film Festival adopts the theme “Broken Landscapes”, responding to today’s rapidly changing world — one that may appear imperfect, even fractured and disordered. The word “broken” evokes both destruction and breakthrough, suggesting new possibilities emerging from collapse.<br />
<br />
For this year’s visual identity, the Festival once again collaborates with designer An-Ru Chen, who previously created the visuals for the 19th and 20th editions. Drawing inspiration from the iconic experimental film Invisible Adversaries, Chen reinterprets its imagery to situate the body at the tense and contradictory edge of landscape — where ruin and regeneration coexist.<br />
<br />
The English title “A Room with a View” highlights the threshold of cinematic perception and subtly echoes Virginia Woolf’s feminist classic A Room of One’s Own, reflecting the Festival’s enduring commitment to women’s perspectives and creative space.</span></div>

<span style="font-size:105%;">The Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center is currently presenting Freedom in Flow: Contemporary Women’s Calligraphy in Taiwan, a special exhibition curated by Professor Hui-Wen Lu from the Graduate Institute of Art History, National Taiwan University. The exhibition runs until December 1, 2025.<br />
As part of the exhibition program, a public lecture will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center, Building E, 2nd Floor Lecture Hall, with simultaneous online streaming. Professor Lu, the curator, will share insights from her 2023 research commissioned by Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, exploring the creative circumstances, historical positioning, and curatorial transformation of contemporary Taiwanese women calligraphers.<br />
All are warmly invited to join this inspiring discussion on gender and artistic expression. </span><br />
